IRKESHTAM
Wuqia and Irkeshtam: one exit, two names, plus the 0.4%
Wuqia is a county in Xinjiang, China; Irkeshtam is the Kyrgyz border post at that same point — one exit, two names. This is the line with a published transit-time table, and the line on which Kyrgyzstan's 0.4% transit tax applies.
- Wuqia = the Chinese county; Irkeshtam = the Kyrgyz border post — one exit, two names
- Routing: Xinjiang — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan — Turkmenistan — Iran (entry at Sarakhs)
- 0.4% of cargo-invoice value, Kyrgyz transit tax — excluded from the quote, not freight
- From the Wuqia crossing, currently: direct truck 21–23 days to Tehran and 18–21 to Mashhad; transshipment 26–30 and 24–28
- A direct truck transloads once, at Bukhara; a transshipment truck at Osh and Bukhara
- Domestic leg, hub to Wuqia, typically within 7 days, counted separately
How this line runs
The truck leaves China at Wuqia / Irkeshtam into Kyrgyzstan, then Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and enters Iran at Sarakhs. A direct truck transloads once, at Bukhara; a transshipment truck transloads at Osh and Bukhara, and sometimes again at the Iranian border. Fewer transloads means a shorter, more predictable transit and less handling — not zero transloads.
What the 0.4% is
0.4% of the cargo-invoice value is a Kyrgyz transit tax on that leg. It is not freight, it is excluded from the quotation, billed separately, and paid by the customer. The Khorgos line runs through Kazakhstan and never adds it.
Time and rail
Transit is counted from the Wuqia crossing, not from the origin hub: a direct truck is currently 21–23 days to Tehran West Customs and 18–21 days to Mashhad Customs; a transshipment truck 26–30 and 24–28 days. The domestic leg to Wuqia is typically within 7 days (estimate, confirmed per booking) and is counted separately. These are current operating ranges, not a guaranteed transit. The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is not open; Iran cargo on this corridor is still road.
No rates on this page. To get a quote, send three things: origin hub; destination customs (Tehran West Customs / Aprin / Mashhad); cargo data — HS code, gross weight in kg, volume in CBM.
